She has been actively engaged in climate advocacy work through 350.Org, helping start 350 Pacific in her region. Her advocacy work has ranged from movement building to organizing to social media advocacy. At the University of Buffalo, she is a research assistant in the Food Systems Planning and Healthy Communities Lab where she works on community based research pertaining to food systems, specifically, youth food security, food access, and urban agriculture within the context of Rust Belt cities. As part of the PhD program, she will focus on new research that looks more closely at the intricate links between climate and the food system.
Subhashni holds a Bachelor’s degree from Bangalore University in Microbiology, Chemistry and Zoology, and a Post Graduate Diploma Programme-Sustainable Development Practices in Public Policy. Prior to beginning graduate studies at UB, Subhashni was a Project Technical Assistant at the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC), where she had the opportunity to work extensively in pacific island countries
