Organization: Winona State University
City/Country: Winona, MN USA

I am Dr. Emilie Falc, Associate Professor at Winona State University. My climate justice solution involves several areas of advocacy. I advocate for keeping fossil fuels in the ground and for supporting the movements that support climate justice in my courses having taught Environmental Communication and incorporating these messages into all the communication and women, gender and sexuality studies courses that I teach. I advocate for engaged democracy through promoting citizen-sourcing solutions, just like the one on the WECAN International website. I advocate for climate justice through creating with my spouse, Jay, an energy efficient home. With Tim Gulden from Winona Renewable Energy and helpful tax credits and incentives from Excel energy, we installed an 8 Kilowatt Solar Array to power our energy and the homes and businesses in our community. I advocate for climate justice when I ride my bike and pull a bike trailer to school and shopping.
