COP28 Side Event: Frontline Women Leaders Advocate for Climate Justice, Fossil Fuel Phaseout, and Urgent Action

Dubai, United Arab Emirates– On Tuesday, December 5, grassroots, frontline and Indigenous women leaders will speak out to address root causes of interlocking crises and the need for women-led solutions based in a climate justice framework, during an official UN Side Event organized by the Women’s Earth and Climate Action Network (WECAN) International at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) 28th session of the Conference of Parties (COP28) in Dubai, UAE.


Amongst various topics, speakers will highlight women-led strategies and leadership for forest and biodiversity protection, Indigenous rights, agro-ecology, fossil fuel resistance, protection of women land defenders, and community-led solutions.
