JOIN OUR TEAM - Short Term Researcher/Writer

The Women's Earth and Climate Action Network (WECAN) is seeking an experienced, dedicated and highly motivated researcher/writer to join a dynamic team of women working for climate justice, systemic change and women's leadership in climate change solutions. 
 
The researcher will work remotely, under the guidance of WECAN's Communications Coordinator and Executive Director to conduct pointed research on women and climate justice with summary writing. This is a short-term position, requiring intensive full time work for 4 to 6 weeks.
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Confident and thorough research skills
  • Very strong and speedy writing and summarizing skills and an enjoyment of writing 
  • Strong background and active interest in issues of climate change, climate justice, women's rights, activism, renewable energy, biodiversity protection, international policy and community organizing - Knowledge of intersectionality of issues such as climate justice, environmental racism, women’s rights, Indigenous rights
  • Willingness to dedicate personal time to expanding understanding of critical climate justice themes and WECAN frameworks, voice and programs
  • Bachelors degree
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work independently/remotely
  • Great organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Previous experience working for an environmentally focused /climate justice/social justice non-profit

 

Position Details:
  • 40 hours per week for 4-6 weeks (to be determined based on mutual need after first two weeks of work)
  • This is a remote position which may be carried out independently from any location. 
  • Researchers are expected to have their own reliable computer, strong internet access, etc.
  • Start date is flexible, but preference will be given to applicants able to begin as soon as possible.
  • Compensation commensurate with experience
