We contributed to the Women's Global Call for Climate Justice's 10 days of action by organizing an all-ages Green Halloween event is Nelson, British Columbia, Canada, on Monday, October 31st. Participants shared their costume characters' voices about their fears and hope for the world in the context of climate change in "A Council of All Beings" circle. Twenty people ranging in age from teenagers to seniors, participated in the Council. Another 15-20 people, many with young children, came to the event for mural making, songs, and photo opportunities.
We set the context by letting participants know about the 10 Days of Action happening around the world in the lead up to COP22, and how our event will be shared with others around the world. The event was organized by a group of women friends, and was co-sponsored by four community groups: Kootenay Society for Lifelong Learning, Citizens' Climate Lobby-Nelson Chapter, Nelson Women's Centre, and West Kootenay EcoSociety.
